The Material Culture Forum will present "African American Quilt History" on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., acclaimed quilter, author, and speaker Kyra Hicks will discuss 200 years of African American quilting in America. Advance tickets are required.

On Friday, Sept. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m., Wine, Cheese and a Walk in the Trees will be hosted by the Friends of the Tanger Arboretum. Light refreshments will be served, and the gathering will take place in the Beech Grove along North President Avenue. The event is free for Tanger Arboretum members, and there is a cost for nonmembers. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside.

The Presidential Lecture Series will feature "President James Buchanan's Foreign Policies and the Union" from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. Dr. John Belohlavek, University of South Florida history professor, will discuss Buchanan's efforts to save his presidency, the Democratic Party, and the Union through the use of foreign policy. A casual reception will begin at 4 p.m., and the main presentation will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Ryder Hall. The program is free and open to the public but requires advance registration to guarantee a seat.

"Go at Your Own Pace" Saturday at Wheatland will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28. Tour entries will begin every 15 minutes from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. Visitors may explore the rooms of the 13,000-square-foot Wheatland mansion and discover the history of this gentleman's farm that James Buchanan called home. Guides will be stationed in each room of the mansion to answer questions as visitors move through the home at their own pace. The ticket price also includes admission to the museum exhibitions at LancasterHistory.
