For 18 years, the annual Cy Loy Golf Outing has made an impact on the lives of children and their families who are in need in Cambodia. Proceeds go toward purchasing school supplies for the youngsters. Hosted by Cy and Salien Loy, along with their offspring and grandchildren, the outing is now in its 19th year.
"In 2018, our proceeds provided 1,200 notebooks, 600 pencils, 617 backpacks, and new uniforms for students, and we continue to compensate teachers to teach English to 350 students," said the Loys' daughter, Wilay Boensch. "We live a fortunate life in the U.S.; therefore, it is important to our family to give back to our heritage."
Golfers will get a literal taste of Cambodian culture during the 19th annual golf outing set for Saturday, Sept. 14, at Four Seasons Golf Course, 949 Church St., Landisville. Salien's egg rolls will be available all day or until gone. Making the egg rolls is labor-intensive, so Salien reserves them for special occasions like the golf outing.
Golfers will be able to snack on egg rolls while they play through the course. The round will use a four-person scramble format and begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. On-site registration will open at 9 a.m. Dinner will follow the round of golf.
A price per person has been set to participate in the outing. The cost includes green fees, cart rental, dinner, egg rolls, and entry into a door prize drawing. Opportunities to sponsor a hole are available.
