Lititz recCenter, 301 W. Maple St., is kicking off a fall season of activity for children and adults. Programs will run through the end of October and start up again for a second fall session in November and December.
Group fitness classes run continuously and are offered every day for people of all fitness levels. These include aquatics fitness classes in the indoor pools and new virtual fitness classes hosted on the big screen as well as traditional live-instructor classes. Personal training is also available year-round.
Adults can take part in specialized programs focused on fitness, nutrition, weight management, and Parkinson's wellness. A women's volleyball league is recruiting teams for play from November through February.
A variety of sports options are available for youths, and morning and evening options for classes are offered for preschoolers. New this fall are "Saturday Sports Frenzy" mornings for children ages 4 to 12, with soccer and basketball as the featured sports programs. A new indoor youth field hockey league program will run on Sunday afternoons in November and December for youths ages 8 to 14.
Lititz recCenter will also host a youth basketball league, with nearly 400 children in kindergarten through grade 12 competing. Players are invited to register, and volunteer coaches and team sponsors are sought as well.
A number of fall events will be held as well. An open house has been set for Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., following the annual Pretzel Twist 5K and Kids Mile Marathon event. Saturday, Sept. 28, is National Women's Health and Fitness Day, and all virtual fitness classes will be open for any women in the community to try. On Saturday, Oct. 12, new Les Mills group fitness classes will be released and guests will be welcome to try any of eight different classes offered between 8 and 10 a.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Lititz recCenter fitness staff and certified trainers will offer free assessments for older adult men and women. Simple balance, coordination, strength, and fitness assessments will be provided to define a starting point to create a fitness routine.
