Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Breakfast

The Oxford United Methodist Church (UMC), 18 Addison St., Oxford, will host its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 7 to 10 a.m. The breakfast will include French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, oven-roasted potatoes, specialty breads, and chipped beef and sausage gravy on alternating months.

Separate costs have been set for adults and for children ages 3 to 10. Tickets may be purchased at the church office in advance or at the door.

All proceeds will benefit the church's general fund. Individuals whose birthday is in September may show identification for a free breakfast ticket.

Pancake Breakfast

The Romansville United Methodist Women will hold their annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 to 10 a.m. Attendees are asked to arrive no later than 9:45 a.m. It will be in partnership with Applebee's, 3479 E. Lincoln Highway, Thorndale, with Applebee's doing all the cooking and the Romansville women serving the pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.

Medicare 101

Parkesburg Library, 105 West St., Parkesburg, will hold a Medicare 101 information seminar on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. The seminar will provide information on eligibility, enrollment, how to maximize entitlements, lower prescription costs and more.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight-loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Oxford Senior Center, 12 Locust St., Oxford.

Weigh-in will be at 6 p.m.; the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend their first TOPS meeting free of charge. For more information, contact Joyce at 410-375-5629.

GriefShare

GriefShare, a support group for those who have lost a loved one, will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Gateway Church, 160 Cowan Road, Parkesburg. Meetings will be held every Tuesday through Oct. 29 from 7 to 9 p.m.

GriefShare is a nondenominational group that features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. The topic for the meeting on Oct. 1 will be "Stuck." Participants will discover how to prevent getting stuck in grief, common misconceptions that hinder healing and why the path to healing isn't always smooth.
