The Pennsylvania Driving Under the Influence Association (PA DUI Association) has announced the hiring of two new employees to meet the increasing demands of both the Law Enforcement Liaison division and the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program. Retired Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Leo Hegarty and retired Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Scott Davis officially started working for the PA DUI Association on Oct. 1.
Hegarty was a decorated member of the Pennsylvania State Police, having been recognized for his actions at the West Nickel Mines Amish School shooting in 2006. During his career, Hegarty served as a patrol trooper and patrol supervisor, where he excelled at DUI enforcement and obtained certification as both a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and DRE instructor. He also served in Systems and Process Review (SPR) and was assigned to the Bureau of Training and Education to address specific problems within the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
