Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Good News Club

Children are invited to attend a meeting of the Good News Club on Thursday, Oct. 24 and every Thursday after school, at Twin Valley Elementary Center, 50 Mast Drive, Elverson.

The children will enjoy games, singing, Bible stories and verses. The club is free, and all students are welcome.

Community Dinner

St. Peter United Church of Christ, Route 23, Knauertown, will hold a community dinner on Friday, Oct. 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to stop in and enjoy food and fellowship. A free will offering will be received. For more information, call 610-469-9690.

"Queen For A Day"

"Queen for a Day," a day to cherish women who provide care for a family member affected by disability, will be offered at Brick Lane Community Church, 52 S. Brick Lane, Elverson, on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Offered will be fellowship and worship, lunch, haircuts and styling, manicures, massage, crafts, planter arranging and painting classes and a car wash.

Trick Or Treat Trail

A free Trick or Treat Trail and a free hot dog lunch for people of all ages will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road, Pottstown. Attendees are encouraged to dress in child-friendly costumes.

Ribs, Chicken Dinner

A ribs and chicken dinner will be held at Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road, Pottstown, on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Menu items will include ribs, chicken, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, dessert, coffee, water and iced tea.

Trunk Or Treat

Trunk or Treat will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyville Road, St. Peters. Featured will be free food, games, hayrides and prizes. All visitors are asked to bring a canned food donation to help support the Coventry Food Pantry.

Decorated cars will arrive at 4 p.m. Trunk or Treating will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Hayrides will be offered at 5,6 and 7 p.m.

To reserve a spot for a decorated car, call 484-520-6263. The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of rain, selected activities will take place inside the church.

Trunk Or Treat

St. John's Lutheran Church, 1035 Old River Road, Gibraltar (Robeson Township), will host a Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine.

Strollers Hike

The Berks Strollers will hike along the Exeter Scenic Rail Trail on Saturday, Oct. 26. The group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Exeter trailhead. For more information and directions, call Najma, the hike leader, at 610-334-8493.

Library Program

The Honey Brook Community Library, 687 Compass Road, Honey Brook, will present its eighth annual "Tricks & Treats for Tweens & Teens" on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. for youths age 10 and over. Line Dancing, Yoga

Living God Lutheran Church, 3200 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, will offer easy yoga classes and line dancing on Sunday, Oct. 27. Yoga classes will be from 3 to 4 p.m., and line dancing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sundays through Nov. 24.

The yoga classes are designed to appeal to those new to yoga and to those who prefer gentle yoga exercises. The line dancing sessions will include lessons that are designed to introduce new or novice dancers to line dancing and will also include some lessons for advanced beginner and intermediate dancers.

EWC Hike

The Elverson Walking Club (EWC) will hike at Hibernia County Park, 722 Cedar Knoll Road, Coatesville, on Sunday Oct. 27. EWC will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the park office. Attendees will take part in a family walk that will include a visit to the Brandywine Creek and the Hibernia Mansion.

Neighbors Meeting

Neighbors Caring and Sharing, a Christian women's fellowship group, will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 9:15 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St. (Route 23), Morgantown. The program will be "Studying Prayer" with guest speaker Tabita Shilalo. All local women are invited to attend.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 8:45 to 10 a.m. at The Torch Community Center, located in the Clock Tower Plaza in Morgantown. Writing Workshops

Honey Brook Community Library, 687 Compass Road, Honey Brook, will hold writing workshops on Saturdays, Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Participants will be able to chat and brainstorm with other writers. The program is for people age 16 and up. The workshops will be held in celebration of National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo, which is November.

Spaghetti Supper

The youth group at Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, 4331 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, will hold a spaghetti supper on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, The menu will include spaghetti with sauce, tossed salad, bread, dessert and beverages. Food will be served by donation only. Proceeds will be used to fund youth camps.

Holiday Bazaar

Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyville Road, St. Peters, will hold its annual holiday bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Baked goods and lunch will be available.

Crafters Wanted

St. Benedict's Church will hold its 2019 Christmas bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held in the church's Family Life Center, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton.

Christmas Bazaar

Harmony United Methodist Church, 740 Harmony Road, Morgantown, will host its Christmas bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The annual event is being presented by the MaBeas, the church's women's group.

The bazaar will feature a variety of hand-crafted Christmas decorations and gifts, a silent auction of unique Christmas items, craft vendors and a sale of homemade soups and baked goods.
