The Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA) will hold Walkin' the Dog - A John Greenwood Memorial Dog Walk on Saturday, Nov. 9, at East Hanover Township Community Park in Grantville. Supporters can arrive anytime between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to enjoy the three-tenths mile interactive dog walk, have lunch, shop for special bargains, and visit a photo booth. The rain-or-shine event is handicapped-accessible.
A suggested donation amount has been set. All proceeds will support CATRA in memory of Harrisburg native John Greenwood, a heart transplant recipient and a longtime CATRA volunteer, coach, and rider. Those who cannot attend in person will be able to take a virtual walk online, with more information available at http://www.catra.net.
John, the son of Bob and Barb Greenwood, suddenly became ill with cardiomyopathy while running cross-country at Penn Tech College. He was able to finish his senior year with an implanted L-VAD, and he received a new heart months after graduation. He worked as an engineer for five years and always returned to CATRA to volunteer. He passed away in 2016. Barb is organizing the dog walk.
