Steps to Success Inc. received its annual visit from Upper Leacock Fire Company on Oct. 9. As a part of the national Fire Prevention Day, visitors provided fire prevention education to the children at Steps to Success. A firefighter demonstrated how fire company responders use turnout gear to protect themselves from smoke and fire. Children had opportunities to sit in the seats inside the fire engine, and they waved as the engine left with its lights flashing and siren on.
Steps to Success Inc. is celebrating its 25th school year serving the Leola community. Founding executive director Michelle Straw Harbaugh invites alumni back to visit and fellowship during this year's community events. The next fellowship event will be an open house and magic show on Friday, Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Extraordinary Give. The event will be held in the cafeteria at the Upper Leacock Township building, 36 Hillcrest Ave., Leola. Attendees may view the organization's photograph albums, most of which are from 1995 to 2005.
Steps to Success is seeking board members who support the board's mission to guide the organization forward. The board is seeking people with skills in finance, board development and legal. A board term is one year. The board meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Leola.
