Donegal High School (DHS), 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy, will host its annual Veterans Day program on Monday, Nov. 11. A breakfast reception at 9 a.m. will precede the ceremony, which will begin promptly at 10 a.m.
As has traditionally been past practice, students and guests will learn about the history of Veterans Day, listen to "In Flanders Fields" performed by the DHS chorus, pay tribute to DHS graduates killed in Vietnam, hear from the 2019 VFW Voice of Democracy essay competition first-place award winner, and witness a rollcall of veterans present. The program will conclude with the somber playing of taps.
This year's program will feature a panel of veterans spanning from World War II to the Iraq War who will discuss the question, "What does Veterans Day mean to me?" It will be led by a student moderator.
Interested area residents who are veterans, along with their spouses, are welcome to preregister to attend the day's events by contacting the DHS principal's secretary, Tina Maag, at 717-492-1202 or tina.maag@donegalsd.org by Thursday, Nov. 7.
