The Massing of the Colors will be displayed from Saturday, Nov. 2, through Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Veterans Grove at Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown. The display is a memorial to each of the military service members who has died in combat since 9/11.
The public is invited to walk through and view the flags at their leisure. The display will be lit for nighttime viewing. It will be removed on Nov. 12.
The National Sojourners - Harrisburg Chapter No. 76 created the Massing of the Colors memorial in 2004 and has displayed the flags at Masonic Village since 2011. Volunteers from Masonic Village, the Sojourners and the community will help set up the nearly 7,000 American flags. Approximately 300 of those flags represent soldiers from Pennsylvania.
On Monday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m., a Veterans Day program will take place in the Freemasons Cultural Center's Brossman Ballroom to honor all U.S. military service personnel both present and past, with special recognition of Vietnam War veterans. A musical prelude will begin at 1:30 p.m. The March Masters and Masonic Village's Men's Chorus will perform. The guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. David E. Wood of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
