History Center Sets Second Saturday Activities

York County History Center will host two Second Saturday events on Saturday, Nov. 9. For more details, readers may visit http://www.yorkhistorycenter.org.

From 10:30 a.m. to noon, Karen Reiss Staub, third-generation jeweler and owner of the Watchemaker's Daughter, will share her family's 70-plus-year history of jewelry and watch-making in York. The program will take place in the Historical Society Museum, 250 E. Market St., York.

A Second Saturday Scanning Day will also take place. This is a new opportunity for community members to have personal historic photographs and documents scanned and incorporated into the History Center's comprehensive historical archives. Participants will receive a flash drive of their scanned items and information on caring for historic collections at home to preserve them for future generations. Scanning will be done by appointment only and will take place in the Library and Archives.

For more information and to make an appointment for scanning, readers may contact Nicole Smith at 717-848-1587, ext. 225, or nsmith@yorkhistorycenter.org.
