With harvest season in full swing, Chester County is encouraging residents across the tri-state area to turn to its award-winning "Guide to Local Farm Products in Chester County" for finding the best cider, winter squash, award-winning cheeses for entertaining, alpaca fleece, home-grown Christmas trees and more.
"A Guide to Local Farm Products in Chester County" won first place in 2019 in the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) annual competition in the Special Purpose Publication category. Designed with easy-to-use tools to find farm products, the publication is produced by the Chester County Agricultural Development Council and funded by the Chester County Board of Commissioners.
The annual guide features more than 125 farms and retail outlets selling locally grown products. Highlights include a comprehensive map of the region pinpointing top farm product destinations, a complete listing of farmers markets that notes which winter markets host at least once a month during the offseason, a breakdown of specialty products listing everything from wineries and cider producers to honey for cold-weather tea and treats for holiday entertaining, and a farm product calendar showing what is in season at various times.
A Spanish language edition of the guide is available at http://www.chesco.org/DocumentCenter/View/39636/Farm-Guide-Spanish?bidId=. This edition was created in partnership with the Chester County Health Department, Million Hearts, and the American Heart Association ANCHOR partnerships program.
