During the Oct. 24 meeting, the Board of Education of the Dallastown Area School District elected Erin M. Heffler as assistant superintendent for the district, set to take effect on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020. She succeeds Dr. Joshua Doll, who recently was elected superintendent of the district.
Heffler is a career educator with experience in a variety of environments. She joined the Dallastown Area School District staff in 2000 as a high school mathematics teacher while coaching field hockey and softball. Since that time, she has served the district as assistant principal at the high school and most recently as principal for the intermediate school. Additionally, Heffler has demonstrated her dedication to providing professional development, comprehensive planning, and technology integration.
Heffler earned a secondary mathematics bachelor's degree from York College. She graduated with a master's degree in educational leadership from Western Maryland College and later earned a doctorate degree in educational leadership from Immaculata University in 2015. Following a comprehensive selection and interview process, Heffler was named the candidate of choice.
