Project Linus of York will meet on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fourth United Methodist Church, 20 N. Lehman St. Attendees should bring their own lunch, and beverages and dessert will be provided.
This volunteer, nonprofit organization works to provide a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans created by volunteer "Blanketeers." Project Linus' mission also includes striving to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity that benefits children for individuals and groups in local communities.
Volunteers do not need to know how to sew; all are welcome to help as long as they can cut or tie a knot. Those who knit or crochet should bring yarn, needles, and patterns. Community members may also help by donating items, child-friendly fabric, fleece fabric, flannel, white or cream thread or yarn as long as it is not wool.
