A tax update seminar will take place on Friday, Nov. 15, at 1:45 p.m. at Fairmount, 1100 Farm Crest Drive, Ephrata. The seminar will be held in the Crest View Gathering Room on the east side of the Fairmount campus, and the public is invited to attend.
Joyce Martin and Chris Frye of Covenant CPA LLC will discuss changes in the 2019 tax year.
An enrolled agent with more than 25 years of tax experience, Martin is responsible for tax planning and preparation for personal, farm, and business returns, as well as QuickBooks support. Her niche expertise is in notice resolution with all government agencies, including the IRS, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, and other local agencies. She has earned an associate degree in business at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, and a degree in accounting from Elizabethtown College. She is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, a Notary Public, a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals and the National Notary Association, and the board vice president of Crossfire.
Frye is a graduate of Millersville University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting. During his first year, Frye became a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and go-to guide for assistance in topics ranging from workflow to inventory. He is knowledgeable of the ways changes in tax law affect small businesses, estate planning, and individuals.
Topics of discussion will include new forms and tax rates, standard deductions or itemizing, depreciation, 199A business deduction, credits, and Pennsylvania changes and updates. The seminar will include for questions and discussion.
