Senior Center Sets Activities

The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. Interested individuals may call the center at 717-367-7984 for more information or to make reservations.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., Mind Matters: Milton Hershey's Legacy at 10:45 a.m., Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m., Advisory Council at 12:45 p.m., and pinochle at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a warm ham and cheese sandwich on a whole-grain sandwich roll, creamy tomato bisque with crackers, and fresh fruit.

The schedule on Friday, Nov. 15, will include walking at 9 a.m., Bible study or table games at 10 a.m., a Diabetes Awareness Month activity at 11 a.m., Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m., and a TGIF dinner and pinochle party at 5 p.m. Lunch will be lasagna with meat sauce topped with mozzarella, tossed salad with cucumber and dressing, a breadstick, and diced peaches.

Activities on Monday, Nov. 18, will include walking at 9 a.m., shuffleboard and indoor bocce at 9:30 a.m., Family Feud at 10:30 a.m., Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m., and pinochle at 1 p.m. Lunch will be county fried chicken with creamy gravy, whipped potatoes with chives, mixed vegetables, wheat bread, and fresh fruit.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the schedule will feature walking at 9 a.m., chair exercise at 9:30 a.m., Nutrition With Donna at 10:15 a.m., and Turkey Fun Facts and Riddles at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a warm roast beef sandwich with cheese and au jus on a sandwich roll, homemade vegetable soup with crackers, and mixed fruit.

The center's activities on Wednesday, Nov. 20, will include walking at 9 a.m., bingo exercise at 9:30 a.m., Wii Bowling or table games at 10 a.m., Seniors Helping Seniors at 10:30 a.m., and Central Penn Commodity Food Boxes at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a Thanksgiving meal featuring roast turkey with gravy, whipped potatoes, homemade stuffing, sliced carrots, cranberry sauce, and a slice of pumpkin pie.
