Road Projects Receive Funding

State Sen. Andy Dinniman recently announced that four transportation and road traffic and safety improvement projects in Chester County will receive more than $2.5 million in state funding.

The projects, which are funded through PennDOT's Multimodal Transportation Fund, were approved by the Commonwealth Finance Authority. They are as follows: $1 million for Schuylkill Township for the Route 23 sidewalk project; $735,812 for Oxford Borough for the Safe Routes to School project; $119,389 for West Bradford Township for lighting for Stargazers Roundabout; and $730,000 for East Fallowfield Township for repairs to Mortonville Road.

Funding for the projects comes through Act 89 of 2013, Pennsylvania's Comprehensive Transportation Funding Plan, which increased transit funding and established dedicated multimodal funding for aviation, passenger rail, rail freight, port, and bicycle-pedestrian projects.

Dinniman said that the latest projects were another example of the ability of investments in transportation infrastructure to help drive both transportation safety and economic growth.
