Eighteen Elizabethtown Area High School students were chosen to have their work featured at Millersville University's Studio for Students Youth Art Exhibit in November. Featured artists include Nicole Bender, Angela Costa-Ouimet, Alex DeFlavia, Stephanie DeJesus, Krimson Dougherty, Rogan English, Dylan Gulden, Kathryn Hackenberg, Ellen Laszakovits, Nicki Lathrop, Noelia Morales, Sophia Pirozzi, Makenna Smith, Elizabeth Stiles, Benjamin Wohlbowne, Trinity Young, Makayla Zeager, and Maya Zimmerman.
The student work is on display at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center, 60 W. Cottage Ave., Millersville. An artist reception was held at the center in early November for the students and their families.
The purpose of the Studio for Students Youth Art program is to acknowledge and inspire student commitment to the arts, to offer students the opportunity to present their work in a gallery setting, and to increase understanding and appreciation for the arts among members of the community.
The Elizabethtown Area School District offers an array of visual art courses that seek to maximize the creative potential of its students and help them become artists in their own right.
In September, the Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA) recognized the Elizabethtown Area School District for its outstanding commitment to visual arts education with the endorsement of Outstanding Visual Arts Community 2019. One of PAEA's award criteria is "highly visible programs" like the Millersville exhibit.
