GEARS has put together a wide variety of programs and activities for people of all ages in its Winter/Spring 2020 Brochure. GEARS members will receive a copy in their mailbox within the next few weeks. Registration will be accepted as soon as the brochure is delivered and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration may be completed at http://www.getintogears.org, by phone at 717-367-0355, by fax at 717-367-4138, or at the GEARS office, 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown. Some classes/programs will fill quickly.
Iddy Biddy Basketball, for children ages 4 to 6, will be held on Saturdays, Dec. 7 to Jan. 25, from 8 to 8:45 a.m. in the gym at East High Street Elementary School, 800 E. High St., Elizabethtown. In the instructional program, coaches will teach basic shooting, dribbling, and passing skills. Separate costs have been set for GEARS members and for nonmembers, and the fee includes a T-shirt.
GEARS will hold the annual Elizabethtown Holiday Parade on Dec. 7 starting at 4 p.m. Themed "Let It Snow," the parade will travel on Market Street from West Bainbridge Street to Winnemore Alley and Mechanics Alley. The parade is sponsored by Elizabethtown American Legion and the Elizabethtown Rotary Club. The parade will bring Santa Claus to the square, and children will be able to visit with Santa after the parade. Santa will also be available for visits from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Dec. 10 and 17, and Thursdays, Dec. 12 and 19; from 5 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, Dec. 13 and 20; and from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 14 and 21. Individuals may also join Santa for story time at the Elizabethtown Public Library, 10 S. Market St., from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
