The Lebanon County Choral Society will present its winter concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. at Myerstown United Church of Christ, 306 W. Main Ave., Myerstown. The concert is titled "Caroling, Caroling!"
The adult chorus and youth chorus will each perform holiday selections featuring the Alfred Burt carols. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the concert.
The society has performed at New York's Lincoln Center with the Lebanon Valley College Alumni Chorale and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra; the Washington National Cathedral; the Hershey Theater with the Hershey Symphony Orchestra; Longwood Gardens; the Hershey Museum; and the Lebanon County Historical Society. The ensemble has performed major works by Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Vivaldi, and Rutter. The group's repertoire ranges from Renaissance madrigals to Christmas carols and from sacred anthems to the Broadway stage, and it includes works sung in numerous languages from Latin to Zulu.
Founded in 1889, the society seeks to nurture appreciation of challenging choral music by preparing public performances that combine accessibility with high artistic standards. Rehearsals for the spring season will begin in February, and that performance will take place in May. Singers interested in participating should contact Sean Hackett at adultchoruslccs@gmail.com or 717-838-1028.
