Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programming. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require preregistration. The Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank will host a community blood drive at the library on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors will receive two free admission vouchers to a Harrisburg Comedy Zone Show, a Penn Cinema movie pass, a pair of Pennsylvania Auto Show tickets, and a free blood donor T-shirt.
The library will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 25. Also, it will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Homeschool Spanish, which began on Dec. 3, will continue on Tuesdays, Dec. 10 and 17, at 1 p.m. for children age 7 and up. The conversational Spanish course for homeschool students will end with a fun fiesta on the last day.
Sing, Shake, and Sway Story Time, set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 4 and 5, will encourage children to interact and move to songs and stories.
During Preschool Super Science on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10:30 a.m., preschoolers age 3 and up can engage in science-based activities that teach them about the world around them.
Lego Club, for people of all ages, will take place at 6 p.m. on Dec. 10. Legos will be provided.
Family Story Time will be offered on Monday, Dec. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the former First National Bank building, 100 Market St., Marietta. It will also be offered on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 11 and 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the library. Families may enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week.
During Homeschool Art Class on Dec. 16 at 1 p.m., children age 7 and up may create theme-inspired art based upon the works of a particular artist.
Sensory Story Time will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 10:30 a.m. The 30-minute interactive program is geared toward children ages 3 to 5 who are differently abled, who may be on the autism spectrum, who have sensory processing issues, or who feel overwhelmed by noises or crowds. A 30-minute time of monitored social play will be available afterward. Registration is required, and space is limited.
Fun Family Bingo has been set for 6 p.m. on Dec. 17.
Sing and Sign Story Time, set for Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 18 and 19, at 10:30 a.m., incorporates basic American Sign Language to stimulate communication with young ones before their verbal communication develops.
STEM Club - Centrifugal Force! will be offered on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. for children in grades three to six. Participants will learn about centrifugal force and create paint-swirled ornaments for the holidays. Space is limited to 20 participants.
During Teen Anime on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m., teenagers age 13 and up may socialize with other anime lovers, watch shows, and plan anime-based activities. The club will watch the "Avatar" series. Attendees may bring a light snack to share.
Youths age 12 and up are invited to Harry Potter Trivia on Monday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. Youths may compete to win the MSL Cup. Food and prizes will be available.
Helping Your Kids Through the Holidays will be offered on Dec. 4 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. The workshop will explore ways to reduce anxiety and the chance of holiday meltdowns. Parents can learn ways to navigate their children on a calm, structured, creative path. Registration is required by calling the library.
Closely Knit, a group for avid knitters or those who aspire to knit, will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9. Attendees may knit or crochet individual projects, and no registration is necessary.
As part of Make-It Monday on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m., Christmas Ornaments by You! will be offered. Adults - as well as older children accompanied by a supervising adult - may create handmade ornaments. Sheet music, holiday papers, and embellishments will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring personal trimmings. Class size is limited.
Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club will meet from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. All stitchers, from beginners to ultra-experienced stitchers, can bring their supplies. Those who are new to the hobby can obtain a simple cross-stitch kit at a local craft store, and one of the experienced club members will provide assistance.
A Gathering of Artists Club will meet on Dec. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. The new club is for artists and crafters who enjoy working in the company of other like-minded folks or who feel as though they have no time to work on a project. Artists and crafters may bring their supplies to the library, but painters are asked to leave oil paints at home.
