Crops Day Scheduled

The annual York County Crops Day is planned for Thursday, Jan. 23, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the York County 4-H Center, 771 Stoverstown Road, York. Penn State Extension Specialists, agriculture industry professionals, and local agency guests will discuss current agronomic issues including nematodes, the state of the ag marketplace, Palmer amaranth and marestail management, the realities of hemp production in Pennsylvania, understanding glyphosate risk versus hazard, hunter access programs for landowners, and Dicamba training.

An early-bird breakfast will begin at 8 a.m.; the program will start at 9 a.m. Attending the full day will result in two core credits and two category pesticide credits, as well as fulfillment of the now-mandatory annual Dicamba training. Certified Crop Adviser Credits will also be available.

A cost has been set for this full-day event, covering breakfast as well as lunch from Big Bob's Barbecue. Walk-ins will be accepted, and readers may call Heidi Reed at 717-472-8108 with questions.
