Tweens and teenagers are invited to watch the movie "To All the Boys I've Loved Before," rated TV-14 and based on the book by Jenny Han, at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7. Snacks and crafts will be provided. No registration is needed.
"Franklin D. Roosevelt - An Arsenal of Democracy" will be offered on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. Neill Hartley plays Franklin Delano Roosevelt in this fully staged historical presentation that is intended to entertain and educate audiences from school-age children to adults. Following the presentation, there will be time for comments and questions.
On Sunday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m., the children's program "I Nat, Love" will be offered. Playing the black cowboy Nat Love, Rochel Garner Coleman will examine the life and times of this ex-slave who joined thousands of others like him to explore and settle the West. Based on stories from Love's autobiography, this one-man show was written by Coleman. Registration is not required. The program is suitable for children in kindergarten through grade five. An Afternoon of Jazz featuring Abe Ovadia will take place on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. One of the preeminent guitarists on the New York City jazz scene, Ovadia holds a bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music and a master's degree from New York University's jazz performance program. He is also a recipient of the Best Guitarist of 2016 Award from Hot House Jazz Magazine.
A book discussion will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, on the 2020 One Book, One Community winner, "Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth" by Sarah Smarsh. The discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Garth Stein, author of "The Art of Racing in the Rain," the story of a philosopher dog named Enzo who teaches people everything they need to know about being human, will visit the library at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29. The book was inspired by Stein's own experiences, and Stein will discuss his experiences and books. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The Friends Winter Film Series will take place on Saturdays in February at 2 p.m. The movies and their ratings are as follows: "The Best Marigold Hotel," PG-13; "Bottle Shock," PG-13; "Tortilla Soup," PG-13; and "Tea With Mussolini," PG. Registration is not required. The Friends will provide free snacks.
