EASD Welcomes Forry

At its Jan. 14 workshop meeting, the Elizabethtown Area School District (EASD) board of education unanimously approved the hiring of Dan Forry as its new director of finance and operations. Forry replaces Jeff Ammerman, who accepted a position with the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials. Forry was hired following an extensive search process that involved a series of interviews. The interview team was composed of district administration, support staff, and school board members.

Most recently, Forry was the chief operating officer for the Hempfield School District for six years. At Hempfield, he initiated numerous cost-savings and revenue-generating initiatives, implemented a multiple-year budget model, negotiated contracts across all operational areas, served on a panel with Pennsylvania legislators on issues related to school construction, and conceived and executed a multi-year capital reserve funding plan.

Forry also successfully served as director of enterprise and operations at Hempfield for four years, providing oversight for district operations including risk management, building renovation and construction, maintenance and custodial services, food services, and student transportation. Before entering public education, Forry spent nearly 10 years as a manager for Exelon Nuclear.

Forry is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., where he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics. After graduating from the Naval Academy, Forry spent eight years in the United States Navy serving as a nuclear submarine officer. He also taught calculus at the Naval Academy. Forry holds a Master of Science in operations research from George Washington University and a Master of Business Administration from Elizabethtown College.

Forry began his duties with the Elizabethtown Area School District on Jan. 15.
