Humanities Lecture Set

The Department of Humanities at Penn State College of Medicine, 500 University Drive, Hershey, will host a Grand Rounds lecture titled "Two Steps Forward, Two Steps Back? The Countervailing Forces of Radical Progress." The lecture will be presented by Candis Watts Smith, Ph.D., on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. in Lecture Room A, Fourth Floor.

Smith is an associate professor of political science and African American studies at Penn State University Park. Smith's research highlights the role race and ethnicity play in shaping the American political landscape. She is the author of "Black Mosaic: The Politics of Black Pan-Ethnic Identity" and the co-author of "Stay Woke: A People's Guide to Making Black Lives Matter," as well as "Racial Stasis: The Millennial Generation and the Stagnation of Racial Attitudes in American Politics."

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided by the Department of Humanities. No preregistration is required.
