Jazz Group Will Perform

The Arts at Millersville will welcome Endea Owens and The Cookout to the Club 42 stage in the Atrium at the Ware Center on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster.

The double bassist will perform music from her latest album, "Feel Good Music." Released in 2019, it features original compositions as well as interpretations of popular blues and jazz hits. Members of The Cookout include Shenel Jones on vocals, Jonathan Thomas on piano, Daniel Prim on drums, and Irwin Hall on saxophone.

Owens was named Lincoln Center's Emerging Artist of 2019. She has been mentored by Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, and Ron Carter and has toured and performed with Jennifer Holliday, Jazzmeia Horn, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Steve Turre, and Lea DeLaria. Owens' has written compositions for the Lansing Film Festival and has been a featured artist at Spelman College and in Montreal. Owens has also written pieces for the Lansing Film Festival and has performed throughout the world.

Along with being featured in the documentary "Happy on the Ground: 8 Days at Grammy Camp," Owens has been featured on television news episodes. She has also been featured on "The Indie Beat" with the Manhattan Neighborhood Network.

The Club 42 series offers club-style atmosphere offers table seating and light concessions including meat and/or veggie snack boxes.
