Family Story Time will be offered on Monday, Feb. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the East Donegal Township Municipal Building, 190 Rock Point Road, Maytown, and on Monday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the former First National Bank building, 100 Market St., Marietta. It will also be offered on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 12 and 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the library. Families may enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week.
Junior Chef Creations Class will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Led by two nutritionists from Giant Foods, youths ages 6 to 16 will learn nutrition basics, do an activity, and then create a snack. Everything needed for the class will be provided, and no cooking equipment will be used. Attendees should share in advance any allergy information, and Giant will do its best to accommodate. There is no cost, but space is limited to 15 students per class. Those who sign up and cannot attend are asked to let the library know.
Sing, Shake, and Sway Story Time, set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 5 and 19, and Thursdays, Feb. 6 and 20, will encourage children to interact and move to songs and stories.
STEM Club - Crack the Code! is a four-part series that began on Jan. 16 and 23 and will continue at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 6 and 13, for children in grades three to six. Youngsters will study cryptography and learn how to create and solve several types of ciphers. Registration is requested.
Harry Potter Trivia, a family-style event for people of all ages, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to noon. Stan Tucker will test attendees' knowledge, and prizes will also be awarded for the best team name. Themed snacks will be offered, and books will be given as prizes. Participants are welcome to dress as their favorite character. Registration is requested.
During Preschool Super Science on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 10:30 a.m., preschoolers age 3 and up can engage in science-based activities that teach them about the world around them.
Lego Club, for people of all ages, will take place at 6 p.m. on Feb. 11. Legos will be provided.
During Homeschool Art Class on Feb. 17 at 1 p.m., children age 7 and up may create theme-inspired art based upon the works of a particular artist.
Fun Family Bingo has been set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Sensory Story Time will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10:30 a.m. The 30-minute interactive program is geared toward children ages 3 to 5 who are differently abled, who may be on the autism spectrum, who have sensory processing issues, or who feel overwhelmed by noises or crowds. A 30-minute time of monitored social play will be available afterward. Registration is required, and space is limited.
Sing and Sign Story Time, set for Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 26 and 27, at 10:30 a.m., incorporates basic American Sign Language to stimulate communication with young ones before their verbal communication develops.
Leap Into 2024 With a Family Time Capsule will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 29. Families are welcome to stop in between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to create a time capsule. They may bring small personal items to put inside the capsule, or they may take it home to fill instead. Capsule materials will be provided. Registration is requested.
The Teen Anime group will celebrate its anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. Youths age 13 and up are welcome.
A game night for adults has been set for Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. Attendees may bring a game if they wish.
Needle Felting Friends Club, led by local soft sculpture artist Victoria Hans, will be offered on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The club is for anyone who wants to learn the art of needle felting or for needle-felters who would like to share ideas or work in a social setting. Materials will be provided to make a felted cardinal.
Closely Knit, a group for avid knitters or those who aspire to knit, will meet at 1 p.m. on Mondays, Feb. 10 and 24. Attendees may knit or crochet individual projects, and no registration is necessary.
A Gathering of Artists Club will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. The club is for artists and crafters who enjoy working in the company of other like-minded people or who feel as though they have no time to work on a project. Artists and crafters may bring their supplies to the library, but painters are asked to leave oil paints at home.
Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club will meet from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 15. All stitchers, from beginners to ultra-experienced stitchers, can bring their supplies. Those who are new to the hobby can obtain a simple cross-stitch kit at a local craft store, and one of the experienced club members will provide assistance.
Make-It Monday - Paint Like a Pro! will take place on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. People age 14 and up will create a painting in two hours. There is a fee, which includes instruction and all supplies except a canvas.
During the Writers' Circle, which will meet on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m., recreational and professional writers may work on current projects or write to prompts.
The Lit Lovers book discussion group, which meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, will gather on Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will discuss "Nothing Daunted" by Dorothy Wickenden.
