Dayspring Sets Open House

Mar 26, 2020 - 6:00 pm

Dayspring Christian Academy, 120 College Ave., Mountville, will host an all-school open house on Thursday, March 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. Families will be able to tour the school and visit with teachers of every grade level and subject. The school teaches students using the Principle Approach.

Founded in 1987, Dayspring Christian Academy is one of 25 Principle Approach schools in America. Of those, Dayspring is one of five model demonstration schools. The Principle Approach is America's historic, classical Christian method of education that seeks to prepare young people to be servants, scholars, and statesmen in the constitutional federal republic.

The school's Principle Approach curriculum includes many in-depth field study experiences, including time in Plymouth, Mass., to study the Pilgrims; Boston to study John Adams' family; Gettysburg; the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Kentucky; and New York City. As a culmination to the Principle Approach education, seniors travel to Israel for a nearly two-week field study.

Dayspring offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including Lower School and Upper School sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, track, cross-country, and golf. A partnership with McCaskey High School in Lancaster permits Dayspring students to participate in all of McCaskey's sports, including football, baseball, and swimming. Additionally, courses and clubs include Lower School Choir, Performance Choir, middle school and high school choirs, and art. Further, students in fourth grade learn to play the violin, while fifth-grade students learn to play the ukulele.

Additionally, the school's P139 program offers learning support for students who test into the academically gifted level and for those who have disabilities.
