York County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is calling for volunteers. The organization is dedicated to ensuring secure living conditions for the 300 to 400 children placed into York County's dependency system. CASA is looking for caring, responsible individuals to serve as advocates for these children.
All potential volunteers go through an application and screening process and are carefully selected for extensive training. CASA volunteers are supported as they meet with the child and individuals involved to better assess and accommodate the child and family's needs.
Prospective CASA volunteers may attend an information session at noon or 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the third-floor conference room in the York County Judicial Center, 45 N. George St., York. The next training will begin on Tuesday, March 17, with applications due by Tuesday, March 3.
