Oniskey Wins Speaking Contest

Jude Oniskey won first place in the Ephrata Cloister Toastmasters Club's speech contest on Jan. 27. The club-level event is part of Toastmasters International's International Speech Contest. Oniskey presented a speech titled "Change the World."

Oniskey will next compete in an area-wide contest on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Manheim Township Public Library, 595 Granite Run Drive, Lancaster. The public is invited to attend.

The Ephrata Cloister Toastmasters Club is one of 358,000 Toastmasters clubs in 143 countries around the world. Each spring, members compete in club-level speech contests. Through competition in the area, division, district and semifinal levels, several finalists emerge to vie for the title of World Champion of Public Speaking.

The Ephrata club meets on the second and fourth Mondays at 6:15 p.m. at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, 169 Martin Ave. Interested individuals are invited to join the club for a complimentary introductory meeting. For more information, readers may call 717-715-9234.
