Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Quilt Guild

The Calico Cutters Quilt Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Goshen Fire Company, 1320 Park Ave., West Chester. This month will feature round-robin demonstrations by members, with presentations including improvisational piecing, using facing to finish a quilt, and using Zentangle strategies to help with free-motion quilting.

In addition to a monthly program, the guild has a charity of the month, a block of the month, and show and tell. This month the guild is collecting wish-list items for the Coatesville VA Hospital.

"Love Your Library"

A "Love Your Library" fundraiser will be held on Valentine's Day, Friday, Feb. 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Heatherwood Retirement Community, 3180 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322), Honey Brook. The adults-only event is being planned by the Friends of the Honey Brook Library, and all proceeds will benefit the library's expansion and capital campaign.

Those who attend the event will enjoy appetizers and sweet treats, along with adult beverages. Non-alcoholic items will also be offered.

Tickets are available at the library, 687 Compass Road, Honey Brook. Cash and checks will be accepted. A limited number of tickets will also be sold at the door.

Hike

The Berks Community Strollers will meet on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. in the parking lot at Boscov's East, 4500 Perkiomen Ave, Reading. Group members will decide where to hike and choose a leader on-site.

TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a nonprofit weight loss support group, will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 8:45 to 10 a.m. at The Torch Community Center, located in the Clock Tower Plaza in Morgantown. Dance Party

Youths with special needs are invited to enjoy an "Everybody In" dance party that will be held at Grove United Methodist Church, 490 W. Boot Road, West Chester, on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m.

All attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian who must stay with them during the hourlong session. Siblings are welcome. Dancers are encouraged to bring bottled water or other beverages.

Neighbors Meeting

Neighbors Caring and Sharing, a Christian women's fellowship group, will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 25, beginning at 9:15 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church 2779 Main St. (Route 23), Morgantown. Guest speaker Lisa Betz will present a Bible study.

Bingo

The Woman's Club of Birdsboro will hold its annual Bingo Bonanza on Sunday, March 1, at 1 p.m. at the Birdsboro Community Memorial Center, 201 E. Main St. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m. Also featured will be an opportunity to win prizes. Homemade food and snacks will be avialable for purchase.
