The Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute bladder cancer support group will meet at the Mohler Senior Center, 25 Hope Drive, Hershey, on Saturday March 14, at 10 a.m. A reception will be held at 9:30 a.m.
Guest speaker Jen Petrask, LPN, ACSM-CPT, will discuss wellness around the cancer journey, specifically the concept of "prehabilitation" and how an individual's overall conditioning before surgery can affect their recovery.
Petrask has been a member of the institute's cancer care team for five years, working as a clinic nurse and currently assisting with the management of bladder, prostate, and renal cell cancer clients. She obtained her certified personal training credential through the American College of Sports Medicine in 2018 after being actively involved with fitness, nutrition, and wellness for more than a decade. Penn State Health senior exercise physiologist Rob Mikesell and Giant Foods cooking school manager and nutritionist Shanna Shultz, RD, LDN, will attend the meeting.
Following Petrask's talk, there will be time for breakout sessions for general support.
