Changes To Meal Programs Posted

Based on recommendations from Gov. Wolf and the CDC, September House Senior Center, 1251 W. King St., York, has suspended many of its activities until further notice. This decision was made to protect its members, who are part of the at-risk population, and assist in the country's efforts to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The Home Delivered Meal (HDM) Program will continue with some adjustments. Meals will be delivered once each week. On Mondays, each HDM client will receive a box with five frozen meals plus a box with another two meals that will need to be heated in the microwave. Pet food is still being delivered to seniors who are unable to leave their homes.

There will also be some changes to the Congregate Meal Program and other activities at the center. Normally participants preorder their food and then come to the center to eat and enjoy a variety of activities. Participants will still be able to order a free lunch, but instead of eating it at the center, they will take it home. Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to noon on Mondays through Wednesdays. Some frozen meals may be included with the takeout meals to provide service five days a week. People age 60 and older may receive the takeout meals. Participants must notify staff at September House which days they want food. To preorder, seniors may call 717-848-4417. Some food may be available for walk-ins and those individuals who request assistance beginning between the scheduled delivery days.

Activities and programs will be suspended until further notice. For the most current information, readers may call the center at the aforementioned number.
