... And Lititz First Responders Plan To Deliver
At 8 a.m. on April 1, the Lititz Borough Police Department took to its Facebook page with a special announcement. "With everyone stuck inside their homes right now it's kind of hard to even think about the next parade in Lititz, or is it?" the post asked. "We're bringing the Parade to YOU!" the announcement crowed.
And the announcement was no April Fool's joke. On Friday, April 3, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Kissel Hill Elementary School, first responders in Lititz Borough, including Warwick Community Ambulance Association, the Lititz Fire Company, and the Lititz Borough Police Department will assemble and roam the streets of Lititz Borough in a deliberately slow manner. Lights will flash and occasionally, a siren will scream, in a special parade for the people of Lititz. The route will move in a northerly direction, while traveling east and west on the roads. Those who live on the north side of Lititz may not see the parade until after 6:30 p.m. or even 7 p.m.
The plan is to traverse the streets that are served by the Lititz Borough Police. "We are going to do our best to traverse as many Lititz Borough roads as possible, excluding cul-de-sacs, and a few of the narrower streets," the post read. Residents of Lititz Borough who wish to watch the parade may watch from their residences through windows or from porches and steps while maintaining proper social distance. The first responders are asking the onlookers to wave to them, and they look forward to waving back.
Members of the Lititz Police Department plan to livestream the event for those who live outside the borough. The post discouraged those who live outside the borough from coming to the parade. Instead, the department encourages residents to contact their own first responders about planning a similar event. If an emergency prevents the parade from occurring, the department will use social media to keep residents informed of an alternative date.
Readers who wish to keep up to date on activities of the department may search for "Lititz Borough Police Department" on Facebook.
