Oniskey Wins Speech Contest

Jude Oniskey placed second in February's annual Area A10 International Speech Contest. His speech, "Change the World," evoked Mister Rogers' belief that "people caring for each other in a myriad of ways...changes the world." Dan Armstrong of Conestoga Toastmasters took first place with his speech, "You Become."

The Ephrata Cloister Toastmasters Club is one of 16,800 Toastmasters clubs in 143 countries around the world. Every spring, members compete in club-level speech contests. Following competition in the area, division, district and semifinal levels, nine final contestants vie for the title of World Champion of Public Speaking.

Since 1924, Toastmasters International has sought to help people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders. The Ephrata Cloister Club meets at 6:15 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.
