ECHOS Offers Community Services

Elizabethtown Community Housing and Outreach Services (ECHOS), 61 E. Washington St., Suite 110, Elizabethtown, is a local social service agency composed of community social workers who walk alongside individuals in need through their crisis. ECHOS began as a result of operating Elizabethtown's winter shelter in December 2015 and recognizing the need for addressing homelessness using a multifaceted approach. The agency was established in July 2016. Since 2016, ECHOS has grown exponentially - from one employee to 15 employee and from offering one program to now offering 14 programs and interventions.

ECHOS has expanded beyond just offering an emergency winter shelter; ECHOS offers case advocacy, eviction prevention, crisis counseling within the local school district, employment assistance, a variety of housing programs, enrichment services, direct referrals, and more. ECHOS social workers partner with individuals in crisis to help promote stability.

March marked Social Work Month, and the National Association of Social Work celebrated its 65th anniversary. Social workers aim to empower individuals who are facing a variety of crises and to give individuals the necessary tools to overcome those challenges. Social workers operate in a variety of different settings to meet the needs of their communities.
