National Library Week will run from Sunday, April 19, to Saturday, April 25, highlighting the role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming communities and improving lives. Libraries of all types and their workers serve millions of library users who seek free access to Wi-Fi, e-books, accurate information and digital social services. Currently, library staff members support their communities both in person and virtually during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The American Library Association Allied Professionals Association (ALA-APA) invites library advocates, patrons and staff members to show their support of the nation's library workers by posting words of encouragement and appreciation at http://bit.ly/librarystar. Patrons of academic, public, special, and school libraries can provide a brief testimonial about a favorite library employee. Patrons are welcome to share stories about how library staff members have an impact on their lives or community. Each testimonial will appear in ALA-APA's Galaxy of Stars at http://ala-apa.org/nlwd/#galaxy. All library star submissions will be highlighted on Tuesday, April 21, during National Library Workers Day, a national celebration.
More information regarding National Library Workers Day is available at https://ala-apa.org/nlwd/.
