Rec Center Posts Updates

Although its faciliities are quiet right now, Lititz recCenter, 301 Maple St., Lititz, is planning for a return to full activity as soon as possible.

Memberships have been "frozen" indefinitely to allow fees to be suspended in many cases and to extend memberships by weeks or months in other cases. Management teams continue to develop programs for late spring and summer. Currently, programs that are already scheduled through Monday, June 15, are open for registration. Adjustments to late spring class schedules will be made and fees will be adjusted accordingly. Registration began on April 13 for members and will be available for nonmembers on Monday, April 20. To register, readers may visit http://www.lititzrec.com.

Summer camps are also open for registration, with themed camps to kick off the week of Monday, June 15. Dozens of camps will be offered for children in preschool through middle school at both Lititz recCenter and recROC. The complete schedule for Lititz recCenter and recROC programs and classes will be available in mid-May.

Summer adult leagues for men's basketball and women's volleyball will be offered. Team registration will be open through May, with the intent of playing a shortened league season if necessary. A youth summer recreation basketball program is also planned.

Several events and special community programs have been rescheduled or postponed. The Parkinson's Meet and Mingle with Legend of Lititz will be rescheduled to a fall date. The Boulder Bash at recROC is postponed until a date to be determined.

Currently, the following events are still scheduled, and registrations are still open. The recCenters of Lancaster County Triple Crown 5K events will include the Ephrata Memorial Day 5K on Monday, May 25. Lititz recCenter annual golf tournament will take place on Wednesay, May 27, at Iron Valley Golf Course, 201 Iron Valley Drive, Lebanon. The summer triathlon will take place on Sunday, Aug. 9, at Lititz recCenter and Lititz Springs Pool.

The opening of the all-new Lititz Springs Pool is tentatively slated for Saturday, May 23, though the date is subject to change. A mild winter spurred construction ahead of schedule, but a shutdown is now in effect. An extended shutdown period will impact completion of the project and final permitting and inspections to allow public use. Lititz recCenter will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. Season pool passes are now available online and management recognizes that adjustments may be necessary.

The fitness team at Lititz recCenter has created opportunities for community members to keep active and motivated toward their personal health and wellness. Fitness from a Distance is a set of online links, videos, tips, and resources free to access through the aforementioned website. Options are posted under Virtual and Distance Fitness there and also are posted on the "Lititz recCenter" Facebook page.

Updates will be announced, and Lititz recCenter encourages readers to email staff.
