In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, educational geologist and astronomer Jeri Jones is offering weekly Zoom geology programs, which began on April 21.
Most of the programs will feature some aspect of Pennsylvania geology and will be used as a teaching tool for those wanting to learn more about the local area. The programs will run from 75 to 90 minutes in length. The programs will be free although participants are required to register to receive an invitation to enter the Zoom room. Donations will be accepted to continue these programs on a weekly basis throughout the year.
The programs will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Topics will include Dinosaurs and Other Critters of the Pennsylvania Mesozoic, April 28; How Geology Affected the Battle of Gettysburg, May 5; Mineral and Fossil Collecting 101, May 12; Ask a Geologist and Show Us Your Finds, May 19; and The Evolution of the Susquehanna River, May 26.
