UPMC Lititz recently introduced Dr. Robert Conter as the hospital's new vice president of medical affairs. In this new role, he will serve as the physician leader and representative for the hospital.
Conter is a board-certified general surgeon and during his residency he was a fellow in gastrointestinal research. He is trained in gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology. Conter has served in a variety of medical staff and hospital leadership positions in Lancaster over the last 10 years. He has a particular interest in organizational development and improvement and has lectured and consulted widely on the subject.
Earlier in his career, Conter served as vice chair of surgery and director of the surgical residency program at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He has been a member of several surgical societies and has been the president of the Association of Academic Surgery.
Conter will continue seeing new and follow-up patients at his surgical practice sites on a part-time basis at General and Surgical Oncology Specialists of Central PA. The practice's offices are located at the UPMC Outpatient Center, 233 College Ave., Suite 203, Lancaster, and also at the UPMC Pinnacle Lebanon Valley Advanced Care Center, located at 1251 E. Main St., Annville.
