The Eastern Lancaster County Library's building is closed until further notice, and the library has instituted many changes to its services. All in-person events have been canceled until Sunday, May 17. No materials will be due before Friday, May 15, and patrons are asked not to return items until the library reopens.
All events and services are being provided online, and events and activities can be found on the library's Facebook page. The library can also be found on Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. All electronic resources, including the e-book and e-audio collection, will continue to be available at https://lancasterlibraries.overdrive.com/ and http://online.lancasterlibraries.org/.
At-home learning resources are available for people of all ages at http://www.elancolibrary.org/at-home-learning-resources.
Patrons whose library cards are not working are asked to email Heather at hsmith@elancolibrary.org. Individuals who would like to apply for a library card may also email Heather to obtain instructions.
I Can Read will be offered for children in kindergarten and first grade from May 1 to Monday, June 1. Parents or guardians are asked to record a video of their child reading any book and submit it to cbarrows@elancolibrary.org to be featured on the library's Facebook page. Those who send a photo will be featured on the physical "I Can Read" board when the library reopens.
Classics With Carla, for people of all ages, will feature videos of Ms. Carla reading the classics, which will be posted at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays on the library's YouTube channel. As of late April, she was reading "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
Ms. Carla's Corner, for people of all ages but geared toward younger children, will be offered on Thursdays at 1 p.m. Each week, Ms. Carla will create a new video with a new theme. Every video will have a worksheet or activity.
Friday Frolic, for people of all ages but geared toward 1- to 3-year-olds, has been set for Fridays at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook Live. Songs, stories, and more will be featured.
A "How to..." Series will be offered on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. and will highlight a new online resource each week. Videos will be uploaded to YouTube. The program is for people of all ages but geared toward adults.
Bedtime Stories with Ms. Heather, a livestream event for people of all ages, has been set for Saturday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. on the library's Facebook page. Ms. Heather will read more of her favorite picture books.
Preschool Storytime, geared toward 3- to 6-year-olds, will be streamed from the library's Facebook page on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers are invited to enjoy themed books, songs, rhymes, or movement activities.
