The Lancaster County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is updating its 20-year Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), connects2040. The plan will serve as a blueprint for Lancaster County's decision-making on transportation projects. It will also serve as a spending plan through the year 2045. The MTP is the transportation implementation element of the Lancaster County Comprehensive Plan, known as places2040, which outlines specific priorities to help the county proactively plan for the future. This plan update has been led by staff at the Lancaster County Planning Commission (LCPC) and guided by an advisory committee, which consists of representatives from transportation agencies and interests across Lancaster County.
The MPO invites the public to provide feedback on the draft plan through Wednesday, May 27. Due to the COVID-19 state of emergency declaration, a public meeting will be held online on Monday, May 11, through Lifesize. To log in, readers may visit https://call.lifesizecloud.com/1696302. After logging into the application, interested parties will be instructed on opportunities to participate in the meeting.
The Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (TTAC) will consider making a recommendation for adoption of connects2040 to the Lancaster County MPO at its meeting on Monday, June 8, at noon. The MPO will then consider adoption at its Monday, June 22, meeting at noon.
The draft plan, as well as the county's draft 2021 to 2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), is available for review at http://www.lancompo.org/public-review. Comments on the plan may be submitted by Wednesday, May 27, to Robert Bini, LCPC director for transportation planning, by emailing rbini@co.lancaster.pa.us.
