The Penn State Extension Master Gardener Program is accepting applications from people who are passionate about gardening and interested in sharing their gardening knowledge with others. Classes are scheduled to begin in mid-August on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m.
The mission of the Penn State Master Gardener Program is to bring unbiased, research-based information from the university to the public. In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, trainees agree to give 50 hours of volunteer service to Penn State Extension the first year. To retain certification, Master Gardeners must volunteer 20 hours and complete 10 hours of continuing education each year.
There is a program fee to cover the cost of training materials and expenses. The fee can be negotiated in the event of need.
For more information or to request an application, readers may call Kelly at 717-840-7408. After receiving an application, Penn State will contact applicants about attending an online orientation session.
