Garrett Receives Award

Dallastown Area School District Spanish teacher Cherie Garrett has been named the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Outstanding Teacher of the Year for Secondary Level.

Garrett has 29 years of experience in the field of education. In addition to teaching, she currently chairs the world languages department in her school.

Garrett was recognized for being a natural leader and an advocate for world languages as her commitment has had a big impact in the implementation of the world language program at the middle school level.

Garrett is also a presenter and facilitator. She has presented sessions on cooperative learning, brain based learning, and kinesthetic learning in her school district and has given presentations at national conferences such as PSMLA, NECTFL, and ACTFL.
