The AACA Museum Inc., 161 Museum Drive, Hershey, has posted its upcoming exhibits, which will include "Drive-in Theatres: A Uniquely American Experience."
Drive-in theaters are a distinctly American phenomenon. Though their popularity peaked decades ago, they were still a destination for young people through the 1980s. Pennsylvania had approximately 180 drive-ins during the peak period of the 1950s. Currently, Pennsylvania has 27 drive-ins. The Pennsylvania list includes the country's second-oldest, Shankweiler's in Orefield, which opened in 1934. The AACA Museum's reproduction theater is fully functional and ready to entertain guests.
The museum staff is also planning its cornerstone exhibits, which will include the "Yeah, It's Got A Hemi!" exhibit. The term "hemi" refers to hemispherical combustion chambers. Visitors will learn more about these robust engines and the vehicles they power.
The annual giveaway drawing is underway, and all proceeds will benefit the museum. One entrant will win a 2021 Corvette Stingray or a cash prize. The random drawing will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3 p.m. Entrants do not need to be present to win.
