Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Free Meals

Anchored by Grace Ministries will offer "Grab and Go Meals" on Thursday, June 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. (or until meals run out) at Morgantown Community Church, 4221 Main St., Elverson.

The first 100 people to come through will receive a free dinner. All are welcome; no registration is necessary.

Food Sale

Due to the recent cancelations of spring events and programs, the Hay Creek Valley Historical Association has decided to offer a "Food-Raiser" on Thursday, June 11. Homemade food items that will be available for sale include chicken corn noodle soup, beef vegetable soup and vegetarian vegetable soup by the quart; eight-inch rhubarb custard pie; eight-inch strawberry crumb pie; and eight-inch Grammy's Breakfast Cake with apple.

Orders can be picked up on Thursday, June 11, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Historic Joanna Furnace Iron Works, 1250 Furnace Road, Geigertown. Greeters will deliver items directly to cars during the takeout-only fundraiser. The order deadline is Saturday, June 6.

Virtual Counseling

Still Waters Ministries, located at Conestoga Mennonite Church in Morgantown, is currently offering virtual one-on-one counseling sessions for clients in Berks, Chester and Lancaster counties.

Counseling is open to both current and new clients who are dealing with a variety of issues, including anxiety, fear, anger, depression and broken relationships. Blood Donors Needed

The American Red Cross is asking healthy people to consider donating blood after a number of blood drives have been canceled due to concerns about the coronavirus.

The Red Cross is facing a severe shortage and is asking people to make an appointment to donate blood by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting http://www.RedCrossBlood.org or calling 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).

Park Open

Warwick County Park, 382 County Park Road, Pottstown, reopened on May 12 for fishing and trail walking. However, the office remains closed, bathrooms are locked and pavilions and the playground are still closed.

Those who visit the park should keep a six-foot distance from others. If the parking lots are full, visitors should come back another time. For more information, search for "Friends of Warwick County Park" on Facebook.

Help Center

The Berks County COVID-19 Help Center is open for residents via email at COVID@countyofberks.com or by calling 610-320-6150. Staff members will be answering phones and responding to emails seven days a week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Multilingual services are available.
