Susquehanna Heritage Posts Schedule

With Lancaster and York counties having recently entered new phases of the state's COVID-19 response, Susquehanna National Heritage Area (SNHA) has posted updates as it prepares to reopen its two visitor facilities along the Susquehanna River and launch its second season of River Discovery Boat Tours. Lancaster County entered the yellow phase on June 5, and York County entered the green phase on June 12.

The Zimmerman Center for Heritage, 1706 Long Level Road, Wrightsville, reopened to the public on June 19, with regular hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays to Sundays. New procedures will be in place for visitors and staff to comply with CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines. All inside visitors to the building will be required to sign in with contact information. Self-guided tours of the first floor will be offered, with no full-house tours or inside programs. Native Lands walking tours will be offered at scheduled times on weekends by preregistration. Masks will be required for visitors and staff inside the building, and disposable masks will be available.

Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St., Columbia, remains closed during the yellow phase, though restrooms are open for park and trail users from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with outside access only. The inside welcome desk, visitor services, exhibit gallery, and facility rentals will not open until Lancaster County enters the green phase. If the county is not in green by July, SNHA will offer limited in-person weekend visitor services starting on Saturday, July 4, with a temporary information desk at the entrance and visitors remaining outside. Hours will be based on peak park and trail user times. All activities will comply with CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines.

SNHA will launch its second season of free River Discovery Boat Tours from the Zimmerman Center on Friday, July 3. Tours will be offered on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with the frequency increased from three to four per day. Registration will be limited to eight passengers per tour to allow for social distancing. The boat and equipment will be sanitized between tours. Similar to last year, preregistration will be required online, but no walk-ons will be permitted to fill no-show seats. All check-in will be done outside in the waterfront pavilion, with COVID-19 screening questions, temperature checks, and face masks required. Disposable masks will be provided to passengers as needed. Online registration for boat tours will be available at http://www.susquehannaheritage.org/programs/boat-tours/.
