The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, remains closed to the public in the interest of the safety and well-being of patrons and staff. Community members may now return materials in the book drops and borrow materials through a no-contact self-pickup service.
Phone hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays. Additionally, on Thursdays, community members may also call between 5 and 7 p.m. Staff is also available to answer the phones on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
Pickup hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays; from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays; and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The usual automated hold system remains inactive at this time. Unfortunately, due to limitations of the library database software, the library is unable to fulfill previously placed holds, and all existing holds have been canceled countywide.
To request specific materials, readers may call the library at 717-354-0525 or email hsmith@elancolibrary.org. Those who are unsure of what specific materials to request may complete the online form at http://www.elancolibrary.org/pickup so staff can choose up to five titles for them. Readers may fill out the form more than once to request books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines.
All library materials will be quarantined a minimum of 120 hours, so turnaround time will be longer than normal.
The library is unable to accept any movie or book donations at this time.
All library events and activities are now offered virtually and may be found on the event calendar at http://www.elancolibrary.org. The library also invites readers to visit its pages on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.

This year's Summer Reading Program for children and youths of all ages will be completely online, including programs and reading logs. The theme is "Imagine Your Story." The program began on June 20 and will run through Saturday, Aug. 15, and participants may earn prizes to local businesses.
Summer Fitness Quest for children ages 5 to 12 also began on June 20 and will end on Aug. 15. This initiative is a Get Outside physical activity program to support and encourage a healthy lifestyle of youths and family members and specifically to extend learning and help young children develop an appreciation for the outdoors. The program supports free opportunities for children and adults to visit and enjoy Lancaster County parks, trails, and nature preserves. Classics with Carla for people of all ages is offered at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays. Ms. Carla will post videos of herself reading classics. She is currently reading "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Participants may find the videos on the library's YouTube channel.
Theater Thursdays will take place on Thursdays through Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. Children ages 8 to 12 are invited to explore the world of theater through activities and exercises in improvisational acting, puppetry, stage and costume design, and script writing. Camp sessions will be held on Zoom, and campers will use FlipGrid to upload short videos that they make. The only supplies needed are objects commonly found around the house that will be used to make puppets, costumes, props, and scenery. Creativity, recycling, and upcycling are encouraged.

Just Read and Listen will take place on Thursdays at 4 p.m. Children in kindergarten through grade three are invited to join on Facebook Live to watch Ms. Carla read a chapter book aloud. This is a livestreamed event and will not be recorded for later viewing.

Cooking with Carla is presented on Friday, July 3, at 5:30 p.m. for people of all ages. This event will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel.
How to ... Series on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. is open to people of all ages, but is best for adults. The series will focus on a different online resource every Friday. The videos will be uploaded to YouTube.
Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania will present a STEAM Mobile program on Monday, July 6, at 10 a.m. Children and youths in kindergarten through grade 12 may participate to learn about endangered animals and what they can do to help. Attendees will need paper, a pencil, coloring implements, and access to http://www.worldwildlife.org.

Drum for FUN with Tammi Hessen will be presented on July 6 at 2 p.m. The program is geared toward children ages 5 to 12, but all are welcome. Attendees will learn about the original story of the Lion King, and they will get to participate by drumming with their hands and stomping their feet. Drums will be provided, but attendees may also bring a favorite percussion instrument.

Adults may join in the Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion on July 6 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss "A Piece of the World" by Christina Baker Kline. Everyone is invited to register at http://www.elancolibrary.org to obtain the Zoom meeting ID and password.
Preschool Story Time has been set for Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. It is open to children of all ages, but is best for 3- to 6-year-olds. Preschoolers are invited to enjoy themed books, songs, rhymes, or movement activities. The program will be streaming from the library's Facebook page.
Book Wizards Read-Aloud Club will meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Attendees may join on Facebook Live to catch Ms. Carla reading aloud a fantasy chapter book. The program will be livestreamed and will not be recorded for later viewing.
