On July 10, the York County History Center welcomed the general public back to its sites for a reopening as the center had closed to the public in mid-March. Since York County moved into the green phase, the center has been working behind the scenes to prepare for reopening to the public. Visitors can anticipate new guidelines and protocols, including a reservation system, to ensure the health and safety of visitors, volunteers, and staff.
All on-site programs will require reservations through a new ticketing system available at http://www.yorkhistorycenter.org. Most programs and events will be free unless otherwise noted.
Reservations are also required for research space in the Library & Archives. Prospective researchers may select a half-day (morning or afternoon) or full-day option through the aforementioned website or by calling the receptionist at 717-848-1587. Nonmembers will be charged a half-day or full-day research rate. Museum tickets are also available but not required.
New protocols and guidelines for visiting History Center sites include wearing a face mask and adhering to social distancing and capacity rules. The hours for History Center sites have changed to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow for proper cleaning at the beginning and end of each day.
