Hempfield Rec Plans Programs

Hempfield recCenter, 950 Church St., Landisville, will offer two basketball camps and a clinic led by Charlie Parker, a former professional basketball player and Millersville University All American and Hall of Fame inductee. All programs are open to the public.

The summer season will kick off on Monday, July 27, with a Coed CrunchTime Beginner/Intermediate Basketball Camp for youths in kindergarten through grade six. The camp will run from 1 to 3 p.m. on July 27 through Friday, July 31. The camp is devoted to the fundamentals of basketball and the development of skills.

CrunchTime Hoops Advanced Training Camp, an elite skills development camp for middle and high school players in grades seven through 12, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, through Thursday, Aug. 6. Players will seek to improve their ball handling, footwork, finishing at the basket, passing, shooting, and defense. Players will compete to enhance situational awareness and decision making on the basketball court.

Coed CrunchTime Hoops Training Clinics for students in grades one to four and grades five to eight will be offered from Aug. 3 to Friday, Aug. 7. Players will be led in drills, including ball handling, footwork, scoring, passing, defense, and shooting techniques. Fun activities, games, and competitions will be incorporated into the skill-building instruction. Players in grades one to four will participate from 6 to 7 p.m., while players in grades five to eight will follow from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.
